Curriculum

What courses can you take toward the D/M/MSLAM degrees?
Enrollees to the DLAM program will take 19 units of course work. Those who opt for MLAM will take 37 units, while those who will enroll in MSLAM will take 34 units of course work. Students in the DLAM are required to pass the Oral Comprehensive Examination and defend their Special Project and Master’s Thesis, respectively. The table below summarizes the number of units and the number of semesters needed to finish the degree programs.

Required Core Courses

LAMP211
Land Administration and Management (3 units)
Techniques in land administration and management. This course provides students with a management framework in land information management, land registration, cadastral systems, land inventory, land reform; and capacity building in the lands sector.

LAMP223
Land Tenure, Law and Policy (3 units)
Laws and policies governing land tenure in the Philippines and their implications to the current land management problems and issues. This course enhances students’ understanding of the importance of land policies and land tenure security, and how they can be applied to improve the social and economic well-being of communities.

LAMP225
Land Economics and Valuation (3 units)
Economic principles as applied to land markets, taxation, valuation, use and property rights. This course equips students with an understanding of economic issues concerning land management and administration. The focus will be on land valuation, land markets and land taxation.

Technologies for Geodata Collection, Analysis and Interpretation (3 units)
This course provides students with knowledge and skills in the application of GIS, GPS and remote sensing technologies, and understanding on the growing demand for up-to-date, high quality spatial and non-spatial data for sound decision making in sustainable natural resource management.

Land Conflict Management (3 units)
This course equips students with knowledge of the contexts of land conflict, stakeholders and power relations, conflict analysis and mapping, options for conflict resolution and mediation.

Urban and Rural Land Use Planning (3 units)
This course enhances students’ understanding of both the law and the planning and development procedures associated with urban and rural lands.

Research Methods (3 units)
This course improves students’ knowledge and skills in designing and implementing research in land administration and management and in analyzing and interpreting LAM research data.
